SummaryWes Tech is looking for an Applications Engineer 1 who will provide applications support, develop design data, system sizing, and technical information for municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment projects. This role performs a full range of Applications Engineer assignments and uses considerable independent judgment to interpret and apply work guidelines with latitude to specific situations.
Responsibilities- Specification review from contractors and engineers and development of specifications for equipment to be sent to the customer/fabricator.
- Document preparation, maintenance, and review including technical drawings and P&’s.
- Budget and firm bid proposal review and preparation.
- Prepare cost estimates.
- Calculate and interpret basic project‑related calculations and respond to technical clarifications from the customer.
- Make continuous improvements with the job functions and processes.
- Collaborate with the Regional Sales Manager and Sales Agent to develop a sales strategy.
- Conduct technical sales presentations and meet with customers.
- Communicate project details to Project Managers and Designers.
- Peer review of bids.
- Other duties as assigned or requested.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
- Generally, 1‑2 or more years of related experience.
- Ability to travel (approximately 25%).
- Strong math skills.
- General understanding of chemistry and physics.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Detail‑oriented, well‑organized with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Self‑motivated with strong time‑management skills.
- Ability to follow through on projects.
- Prior sales experience.
- Superior customer service.
- Work well in a team environment.
- Master’s degree in Engineering.
- Must be able to work at a desk computer/phone system.
- Some lifting may be involved (up to 50 lbs.).
- May be required to be clean‑shaven for proper respiratory equipment.
