REMOTE POSITION, LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY DUE TO REQUIREMENT TO COME INTO THE FACILITY FROM TIME TO TIME.
Responsibilities- Coordinate line trials of new materials/vendors to assure they meet manufacturing, quality, regulatory and customer expectations.
- Work with MRP Analysts to implement packaging improvement ideas.
- Develop and organize proper documentation for the specification system for packaging.
- Audit existing packaging materials for quality, conformance, quantities, etc.
- Develop ideas for savings, innovation, and quality improvements that are relevant to the product(s) and business.
- Assist in various projects related to packaging (graphics, etc.).
- Maintain compliance with customers related to packaging.
- Maintain packaging specifications and graphics ensuring accessibility and control of packaging assets.
- Visit vendor locations, as needed, to examine ongoing packaging projects to ensure conformance to project requirements.
- Provide technical support to Marketing, Quality Assurance, Materials, and Production.
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience working with plant operations and packaging supply chain from concept to production for multiple products.
- Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Packaging Engineering or related field.
- Strong working knowledge of a wide variety of packaging materials, automated packaging equipment, and processing equipment.
- Proficiency in researching and developing state‑of‑the‑art packages through experimental design, package testing methodology, and previous commercialization experience.
- Experience in food or other CPG preferred; familiarity with high‑speed food manufacturing processes desirable.
- Experience with maintaining, updating internal and external customer packaging databases.
- Strong communication skills to represent the company with customers and suppliers.
- Subject‑matter expert, resourceful and creative problem‑solver.
- Exceptional time‑management, project‑management, and organizational skills; ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills, approachable, professional, positive and flexible.
- Works interactively and proactively with internal and external parties at all levels.
- Meets communicated schedules and deadlines while working in a fast‑paced environment.
- Self‑starter and independent thinker who can quickly react to situations.
- Can handle multiple tasks or projects at once with minimal assistance.
- Proficient with MS Office, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
The minimum compensation for the Packaging Engineer is $77,331 annually. Compensation is determined by a candidate’s experience, education, skills, training, and the internal equity within our organization. In addition to a competitive compensation package, regular full‑time corporate employees of Jel Sert are eligible for our extensive benefits programs.
