Job OverviewPratt & Whitney seeks a robotics technology engineer to develop, validate, and enforce robotics specifications across the organization. The role ensures compliance with site and supplier standards, implements deliverables, and supports automation goals.
Responsibilities- Develop and validate a centrally operational robotics specification for Pratt & Whitney, ensuring compliance with all sites, machine, and system suppliers.
- Create and implement standards related to robotics:
Robot I/O bitmap for PLC and peripheral devices;
Robot program structure templates; FANUC DCS requirements and validation procedures;
General programming requirements;
Application error code assignment;
Standard engineering procedures and documentation;
Standard best practices, integration procedures and documentation;
Maintenance procedures and life cycle cost calculations. - Develop custom software: standardized program macros; fault handling and recovery by process; data security rule implementation; data collection and user interfaces; standard data collection templates; data/communication driver creation and maintenance; robotics simulation development and standardization; work in coordination with team members to create digital twin of automated processes; virtual commissioning of digital twin in coordination with control engineers; reach, range, and throughput validation;
deliver offline programs; apply expertise to technical problem resolution for current and future projects; communicate at all levels within RTX and Pratt & Whitney, as well as externally, tapping technical resources, forming teams, and consulting with programs. - Meet all Environmental Health & Safety and Preventative Maintenance requirements associated with manufacturing development.
- Assist as resource in the capital procurement process.
- Provide expert-level understanding of robotic standards and execution to all levels of the organization.
- Travel:
Up to 50% travel required.
- Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of experience or 10+ years of demonstrated experience in automated robotic systems, specifically in manufacturing environments.
- U.S. citizenship (required for program compliance).
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance.
- Excellent judgment and professional maturity.
- Extensive experience in FANUC robot programming.
- Experience with FANUC Roboguide or Siemens Process Simulate simulation software.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and team building skills; ability to connect with all levels of the organization.
- Self-starter capable of working with minimal direction.
- Extensive experience troubleshooting different component manufacturers and applications.
- General understanding of automated systems architecture and PLC programming.
