• Drive solutions for customers through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
• Produce written proposals and network engineering designs while consulting on best practices
• Serve as the primary customer-facing contact for advanced technical issues
• Assist in the preparation of quotes and manage customer requests while coordinating sales activities
• Provide mentorship and feedback to junior members of the Sales Systems Engineering staff

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• 5-7 years of Sales Engineering or equivalent experience
• Technical background in optical networking, including experience with OTN and DWDM networks
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time for customer engagements and technical discussions

• Familiarity with automation, analytics, and AI usage in networking operations
• Industry certifications would be a plus
• Experience working with engineering organizations to articulate technical concepts for end customers
• Hands‑on experience with Ciena products, including the 6500, RLS, and Wave Server platform
• Knowledge of coherent modems and their impact on Capex/Opex in real networks
