The Energy Efficiency Project Engineers positions at Energy 350 will serve the Energy Trust of Oregon in Portland and surrounding areas. One position focuses on the High Tech sector and the other on a wide variety of industrial sectors.

Key Details
  • Location:

    Our office is in Portland, OR. This is a hybrid position that requires a mix of office time, field time working directly with industrial sites and some flexibility to work from home. Relocation assistance is available.
  • Travel:
    Day travel to customer sites in the Portland area and northern Willamette Valley; approximately 25%-50% of the time.
  • Base Pay: $85,000-$135,000 annually depending on experience and with opportunities for advancement. All positions are eligible for an annual bonus and profit share on top of base pay.
  • Benefits:

  • Schedule:

    Full-Time; 40 hours per week;

Position Overview

The Energy Project Engineer is responsible for working with industrial customers to identify projects to reduce energy usage, quantifying energy savings, and helping determine eligible incentives. This includes a lot of problem solving, collaboration and interaction with customers, vendors, and clients.

A Typical Day May Include
  • Administer Energy Trust of Oregon Industry and Agriculture energy efficiency incentive program
  • Engage customers in the regional industrial community
  • Conduct outreach to disengaged or new participants
  • Work with industrial customers to scope and develop energy efficiency projects
  • Perform energy engineering/energy analysis on industrial systems
  • Conduct on-site measurement & verification of energy projects
  • Write technical reports for non-technical audiences
  • Provide excellent customer service
Qualifications

We are looking for a technical person with a wide range of skills including excellent communication skills and the ability to actively engage the community to help industrial manufacturers participate in energy efficiency incentive programs.

Ideal candidates will have some of the following skills and experience:

  • Engineering degree and/or great experience required
  • Professional experience in the energy efficiency or mechanical engineering field
  • For the High Tech-focused position, experience with clean room mechanical support systems
  • Working knowledge of commercial and industrial mechanical systems and building science
  • Experience analyzing industrial mechanical systems for energy use and quantifying annual energy savings
  • Ability to identify mechanical and electrical equipment in the field and explain control methods and what retrofits or changes can be implemented to conserve energy. Familiar with the following systems: compressed air, HVAC, fans & pumps, refrigeration, motors and VFDs, boilers.
  • A high energy, self-starter with excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • A solution-oriented approach to solving problems
  • An outgoing person who is excited to make new connections; adaptable to dynamic settings
  • Capability of working autonomously with good project & time management skills
  • Excellent writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills
  • Excellent Excel skills
  • P.E., EIT, CEM, and/or CMVP preferred
