Lura Health is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to refine, commercialize, and evolve its cutting-edge intraoral wearable sensor products. The core technology is a battery powered, ultra-miniature sensor worn in the mouth to provide continuous monitoring of saliva for medical and dental health diagnostics.
Continuous monitoring of analytes in saliva is a new frontier in diagnostics, enabling medical providers and researchers to track the markers of chronic disease. Lura’s industry-leading product allows for continuous, non-invasive monitoring that was previously impossible. Lura Health is a fast-growing, early-stage medical device company, backed by NSF and venture capital partners in the medical device and dental technology space. Our ideal candidate is eager to push the boundaries of what’s possible and bring a new category of medical device to market.
What You Will Do:- Lead the electrical system architecture design and strategy, developing best-in-class sensor and power management architectures
- Create electrical schematics and PCBs for R&D, product, and test/validation hardware
- Define and execute verification and validation plans at PCB and device level
- Collaborate with the Quality team to ensure the hardware is designed, documented, and manufactured to rigid medical device requirements
- Invent processes and tools for small-scale manufacturing; support the transition to third party manufacturers
- Work with firmware and software engineers to develop robust, production-ready embedded systems
- Build strategic relationships with component vendors and manufacturing partners to drive innovation and ensure project success
- Serve as key advisor to executive team for technical/product strategy
- Use and maintain project management tools; own the schedule planning and execution for electrical engineering efforts on ambitious timelines
- Hire and manage external contractors as-needed (e.g RF domain experts)
- At least five years of electrical engineering experience for consumer or medical device products that have gone to production
- Able to lead a full EE design cycle from concept to production
- Direct experience developing, producing, and testing high-density PCBs;
Altium expertise very strongly preferred - Expertise in electrical test equipment and validation methods for low-power devices
- Experience working at startups or in small teams with dynamic roles and ambitious schedules
- Excellent technical communication skills and aptitude for technical leadership
- B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field (Electrical, Electronics, Biomedical, Computer Engineering)
- Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration

You’ll be based at the HAX US Headquarters in Newark, NJ, a 35,000 sq. ft., $50M deep-tech facility supporting startups in healthcare, robotics, climate, and advanced manufacturing (). The space includes full engineering workshops and wet labs designed for rapid experimentation and development. The office is a short walk from Newark Penn Station and Broad Street Station—just a 20-minute train ride from Manhattan.
While this is primarily an in-office role and occasional work-from-home flexibility is available, on-site presence is dictated by business needs.
