Eaton’s IS AER MSD division is currently seeking a Modeling & Simulation Multi-Domain - Lead Engineer. This is a remote position.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $93750.03 - $137500.04 a year.

Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What you’ll do:
  • PRIMARY FUNCTION: This position is for a Modeling and Simulation Lead Engineer (Multi Domain Physics) role supporting research and new product development in Eaton’s Mission Systems Division (MSD). The Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Engineer is responsible for the development of multi domain mathematical models and multi‑body dynamic simulation that represent the physical behaviors of mechanical systems and components. The candidate will provide technical oversight and guidance to other M&S engineers based in the US and in Global Teams as well as serve as an individual contributor.

The product and systems are thermal fluid and dynamic mechanical systems that support aerospace applications. These aerospace applications are diverse and include space life support and propulsion, aircraft oxygen and refueling, and weapons storage and release systems. The M&S engineer should have technical experience with multi domain physics modeling of systems and the integration of controls to evaluate system response, behaviors, and requirements.

Similarly, the candidate should have experience with simulation tools that model the behaviors, responses and interactions of dynamic mechanisms defined within the system. Other critical skills include technical leadership, project execution, and a system engineering approach to problem solving.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
    • Develop multi domain physics‑based plant models of mechanical systems using SIMULINK and SIMSCAPE (and similar i.e. Siemens Amesim)
      • Plant models include thermal, flow, and pressure drop analyses of aircraft systems
      • Validate models with lab or application test data
    • Collaborate with the product teams to understand system operation and associated requirements.
    • Document analysis plans for product teams to define model objectives, inputs and outputs, limitations/assumptions, and description of expected results.
    • Estimate labor hours and duration to complete modeling tasks and peer review those provided by the global team and members within the group.
    • Provide technical oversight of global teams involved in performance modeling which include informal technical reviews, responsibility of technical quality/completeness of work products delivered to product teams, and ownership of model transition plans.
    • Provide technical guidance to other M&S engineers within MSD developing multi domain physics models which may include developing initial analysis plans, support with tools, and peer review of models and results.
    • Champion for the adoption of multi domain physics modeling and simulation with the product teams.
    • Recommend and own productivity improvements and support product teams in developing value propositions for leveraging model‑based engineering initiatives.
    • Develop skills matrix to use for continued development and growth of talent within the functional discipline.
    • Develop and champion best practice/lessons learned database to further grow M&S capability.
Qualifications:
  • Required (Basic)

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience working in modeling and simulation of thermal fluid and/or mechanical systems/components as individual contributor in the aerospace or defence industries.
    • Minimum 3 years of experience with Simscape and/or Simulink.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience of project technical leadership of modeling and simulation and or systems engineering work scope.
    • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.
    • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and requires access to export‑controlled information. To conform to U.S. Government export…
