Senior Telecommunications Engineer – Jacobs

Base pay range$/yr – $/yr
This role is available at any location in the United States. Ideally, selected candidates should be near a Jacobs U.S. office, but the “best” candidates will be considered. As a Senior Telecommunications Engineer you will provide technical design leadership for data‑center buildings, including structured cabling, wireless, AV, and other low‑voltage systems, mentor teammates, and help projects complete on time.
Responsibilities- Lead BIM designers in preparing engineering drawings
- Create or modify DIV 27 specifications
- Conduct site visits
- Review technical documents
- Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Sign and seal telecommunications design packages
- Provide technical design leadership of systems for data center buildings (structured cabling, wireless, AV, low‑voltage)
- Mentor other telecom team members
- Identify and implement processes to improve the department’s efficiency
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Communications Engineering from an ABET‑accredited college
- Minimum eight years actively designing or leading telecommunications structured cabling systems
- Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA and BICSI standards
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA 70 and its application to telecommunications systems
- Proficiency with Bluebeam
- Self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers, and clients
- Excellent project‑management skills
- Experience responding to RFPs
- Experience providing quality assurance and checking of telecommunications systems designed by others
- Experience with startup and commissioning of telecommunications systems
Experience creating a project budget, schedule, and risk mitigation plan - PE license (multiple LEAs preferred)
- Four years of telecommunications design experience in data centers
- Experience with other low‑voltage systems (security, audio/visual, wireless)
- Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks
- Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for control and security systems
- Knowledge of CSI or AIA specification writing procedures
- Credential as an RCDD
