Position: Environmental Planner
Location: Southern California (Ventura, Los Angeles, Pasadena, or Irvine); flexible work locations may include working from home.
Key Responsibilities- Provide land use planning knowledge to support environmental review needs for public and private projects on utility programs.
- Lead and manage multidisciplinary project/program teams, including environmental permitting, land use planning, coordination/management of environmental projects, and technical support for siting and licensing of energy production and transmission projects.
- Support environmental impact analysis, CEQA/NEPA processes, and review of project descriptions and scope of work.
- Maintain timeliness and quality while coordinating with biologists, archaeologists, and other technical leads, and deliver high‑quality work to project management teams.
- Operate vehicles as required, maintaining a good driving record and a valid driver’s license.
- Minimum 5 years of experience performing environmental planning and permitting work.
- Strong research, analysis, and reporting abilities.
- Detail‑oriented with capability to manage large data sets.
- Team‑oriented professional with excellent written and communication skills.
- Experience with in electric and/or gas utility projects.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Familiarity with reviewing scientific data, maps, and drawings.
- Self‑starter capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
- CEQA/NEPA experience.
- Ability to identify opportunities and build relationships with clients.
Basic: BA/BS in Environmental Science, Biology, Urban, Regional or Environmental Land use Planning, or related field, with 5‑8 years of planning experience.
Preferred:
Master’s degree in a related field.
- Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA areas: $ – $ annually.
