Description
Leidos is seeking a Project Engineer to support Project Managers (PMs) and Construction Managers (CMs) on the National Science Foundation (NSF) Antarctic Support Contract (ASC). The role involves planning, scheduling, procurement, documentation, and coordination of complex projects in Antarctica.
The Project Engineer will work closely with ASC project teams to develop procedures, performance metrics, subcontractor contract requirements and project management tools.
Responsibilities include:
- Planning and coordinating project work for both Antarctic-based and CONUS activities.
- Developing material take-offs, SOPs, work plans, and supporting project documentation such as SOPs and Statements of Work (SOWs).
- Providing regular updates on requisition status and supporting weekly/monthly project reporting.
- Forecasting and managing personnel needs based on project schedules.
- Coordinating and facilitating resource deployment to meet project timelines.
- Maintaining, updating, and distributing recurrent resource tracking reports.
- Identifying resource conflicts or over allocations and recommending adjustments.
- Assisting in developing RFPs, RFQs, and SOW documents.
- Documenting lessons learned and process improvements.
Remote / stateside work includes collaboration with PMs, CMs, Mission Operations Support, and Science and Area Management teams.
Antarctic-based deployment may require 3‑8 weeks per year. Physical and dental examinations for deployment must be completed. US citizenship and a Public Trust security clearance are required.
Qualifications
- BA degree with 4+ years of experience or a Master's with 2+ years of experience.
- Ability to read construction drawings, technical specifications, and manuals.
- Minimum of two years in commercial or industrial construction or engineering.
- Basic knowledge of construction safety standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
Preferred:
- Prior Polar program experience.
- Familiarity with project management tools.
- Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline or Construction Management.
- Experience with IBM Maximo asset management software.
- OSHA 30 certification.
Salary and Benefits
Pay range: $95,000 to $105,000 annually, with a percentage increase during deployment.
