ERM is hiring a High Voltage (HV) Engineer focused on power, energy and renewables site design, optimization, and electrical engineering,
remote work with preference for Western U.S. locations. The role involves collaborating closely with Project Managers, Engineers, and Scientists on the planning, design, permitting, and implementation of diverse and complex renewables projects. Projects include the development of construction drawings, technical specifications, contract documents, permit applications, and calculations for renewable energy system components such as photovoltaic solar technology, battery energy storage systems, electrical substations, wind turbines, and electric transmission and distribution facilities.
Experience in both office and field settings is anticipated. This is a full‑time, 40‑hour/week, limited‑term position for 12 months, extendable.
- Review and prepare high‑voltage electrical engineering designs, including substations, switchyards, transmission and distribution lines, and associated infrastructure.
- Prepare electrical designs with one‑ and three‑line diagrams, power calculations, and control system specifications.
- Conduct power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, arc flash analysis, etc.).
- Use PSCAD for model development and analysis.
- Create one‑line and three‑line diagrams, AC/DC schematics, bill of materials, wire schedules, and interconnection diagrams.
- Gain construction and field experience through witnessing testing of high‑voltage equipment and systems.
- Develop electrical construction and equipment specifications.
- Support projects during construction, start‑up, and commissioning activities.
- Prepare cable routing, converter station facility studies, transmission line studies, and siting and routing reports.
- Prepare and complete interconnection applications.
