Project Engineering Manager – Water/Wastewater
Join Black & Veatch as a Project Engineering Manager – Water/Wastewater. The role involves managing the engineering component of multiple traditional, design‑build, design‑bid‑build, and collaborative delivery projects, including advanced treatment facilities, underground conveyance, and carbon‑neutral solutions.
OpportunityThe role offers the opportunity to:
- Lead a multi‑discipline team of engineers and technicians on high‑profile municipal projects.
- Supervise and mentor engineering staff, identifying developmental growth opportunities.
- Manage budgets, scheduling, and client correspondence to support successful project delivery.
- Project Execution
- Prepare complex engineering deliverables for large or multiple projects.
- Assist in research to develop equipment and material recommendations.
- Prepare complex engineering calculations following standard methods and principles.
- Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements across multiple disciplines.
- Lead production teams, coordinate multiple discipline activities, and serve as the responsible charge for a project.
- Client Interface
- Identify key client interests and drivers for moderately complex projects.
- Communicate client concerns to project team members and develop solutions.
- Provide support for business development or pursuit activities.
- Manage project changes directly with the client under Project Manager supervision.
- Technical Expertise
- Lead large multi‑discipline teams to meet project deliverables.
- Provide input to technical leadership for complex water and wastewater treatment projects.
- Drive solutions to achieve project goals.
- Management Responsibilities
- Review lower‑level engineering work or assignments.
- Mentor and perform performance management of assigned personnel.
- PE license.
- Previous engineering consulting experience.
- Experience executing multi‑discipline WTP and WWTP upgrades and expansion projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
- All applicants must be able to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background checks, drug screen, motor vehicle record search, etc.).
Most positions require professional registration or licensure in the designated home office country, or active pursuit of such registration. Additional licensure may be needed when practicing or assigned abroad.
Work Environment / Physical Demands- Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based upon manager discretion, job performance, and work assignments.
- Sitting, standing, or computer usage for extended periods.
- Use of video/audio conferencing software for internal/external communication.
- Travel to client sites.
