Water Management
At HDR, our employee-owners are fully engaged in creating a welcoming environment where each of us is valued and respected, a place where everyone is empowered to bring their authentic selves and novel ideas to work every day. As we foster a culture of inclusion throughout our company and within our communities, we constantly ask ourselves:
What is our impact on the world?
We believe water is more than a resource; it's a shared responsibility. As part of our Water Business Group, you’ll help shape how communities manage water for generations to come. From delivering safe drinking water and treating wastewater responsibly to developing sustainable water supplies and protecting lives and property through flood control, your work will directly support public health, environmental sustainability, and infrastructure resilience.
Whether you're modernizing aging systems or pioneering innovative approaches, your contributions will make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
In the role of Environmental Project Manager, we’ll count on you to:
- Plan and manage all aspects of small to medium single‑discipline projects or large, routine infrastructure projects for environmental services in Washington State, including environmental and land use alternatives analyses, NEPA/SEPA documentation, and federal, state, and local permit applications.
- Independently coordinate work of professional staff and balance the team throughout the entire project's development.
- Establish client relations, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings.
- Track, maintain, and share regulatory changes from federal and state governments.
- Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for compliance.
- Conduct work sessions for design development and contract documents in conjunction with other staff.
- Coordinate workload to ensure completion of documents on schedule.
- Track financial aspects of projects, adjusting work effort to stay within the agreed schedule and budget.
- Work with Business/Accounting Manager or Project Controller and Department Manager for project reviews, and with company management as needed.
- Collaborate with Water Business Group leadership and partners to enhance practice and project delivery.
- Will require in‑person participation in the home office on a weekly basis.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Science, Engineering, or closely related field.
- Proven experience managing environmental review and permitting services for Water Resources, Wastewater or other Water Business Group‑related projects in the Pacific Northwest.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 7 years of related experience.
- Minimum of 2 years project management experience.
- Ability to interact with various design teams, and excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture.
