Job Description

Parsons is seeking a dynamic and seasoned professional to join our team as a Principal Level Highway Design Engineer, supporting the landmark NYSDOT I-81 Viaduct Project! This $2.0B project, the largest in NYSDOT’s history, is transforming the fabric of Central New York.

This role is available on a hybrid schedule in New York state, with remote options available for qualifying candidates.

Key Responsibilities
  • Independently develop and/or supervise the creation of engineering products that meet customer quality requirements. This includes defining the problem, establishing the work scope, preparing the budget and schedule, planning the work, providing technical direction, and reporting the work status.
  • Typical products may include detailed calculations, drawings, procurement documents, design and installation packages, proposal evaluations, technical reports, and detailed analyses.
  • Develop detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.
  • May supervise one or more subordinates and provide input regarding performance.
  • Provide input and technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower level Engineers working on the same project.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by the position.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience with highway geometric design background.
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate may be required, and candidate should be on the PE track.
  • Proficiency in CAD (Microstation and InRoads/Open Roads) and other PC software packages commonly used in engineering.
  • Experience with NYSDOT highway design projects preferred.
  • Strong communication skills.
