Senior Power Systems Manager – Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS)
Summary
The Senior Power Systems Manager provides expert technical support for FACTS. The role requires a highly technical, customer‑focused, self‑motivated individual with strong leadership skills. The manager leads the technical strategy and high‑level studies for FACTS projects and develops a team of application and systems engineers who analyze customer requirements, perform studies and develop strategies for Synchronous Condenser, Fixed Series Capacitors, and Static Synchronous Compensator solutions.
- Provide technical oversight for a team of highly skilled engineers in executing system engineering analysis for grid‑interconnected generation, transmission or distribution.
- Drive engineering tools strategy in the development of FACTS solutions.
- Lead, mentor, and coach engineers—including career development and performance reviews.
- Participate in industry working groups (IEEE, CiGRe, IEC) on standards for FACTS.
- Apply expertise in synchronous machines to develop and optimize synchronous condenser solutions.
- Coordinate synchronous condenser system designs and conduct necessary calculations for equipment selection.
- Develop, specify or review studies related to the technical design strategy for Fixed Series Capacitors.
- Act as senior reviewer for proposals, projects, and new product introductions for FSCs.
- Apply expertise in valves, reactors, protection and control systems to develop STATCOM designs.
- Understand grid‑forming controls and virtual synchronous machine algorithms.
- Perform site assessments for prospective STATCOM locations.
- Knowledge of Real‑Time Digital Simulation (RTDS) testing.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technical area from an accredited university with a minimum of 10 years of related engineering experience, OR Master’s Degree with a minimum of 7 years of related engineering experience.
- Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time, including occasional international travel.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Salary Range (U.S. based position): $111,200 – $185,400 (plus geographic differential). Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
