Iteris is looking for a Vice President that seeks to join a talented group of professionals to promote thriving communities by applying innovative engineering and technology solutions to solve complex issues in transportation. You will work with all levels of public agency clients to make mobility safe, efficient and sustainable for everyone. Responsibilities will include project business development, client relationship management, and staff mentorship within transportation planning, engineering, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and emerging technology space to support regional growth objectives.
The successful candidate will have specific transportation and ITS industry working experience and knowledge at the state, regional, and local levels across Texas. The candidate will have a successful and demonstrable track record of transportation and ITS business capture within the Texas market with emphasis on regional and local levels. This opportunity is available as a remote position and you must reside in Texas, preferably in the Austin, San Antonio, or Houston areas.
you will be doing:
- Lead and manage Texas business strategy development and execution to meet Texas business objectives
- Conduct business development activities related to technical ITS, emerging technology, and traffic operations projects, including pre‑marketing, proposal preparation, interview, and contract negotiations
- Provide business development leadership in any combination of the following: traffic engineering or planning, transportation engineering or planning, signal operations, signal timing/coordination, ITS planning, ITS design, systems engineering, communications networks, system integration, connected and automated vehicle, and tolling
- Develop and serve a state, regional and local client base in Texas by providing superior traffic and transportation engineering and planning services
- Serve as Project Manager or Principal‑in‑Charge for large multi‑disciplinary projects involving transportation planning, traffic engineering, signal operations/signal timing, or ITS design, implementation, and integration projects
- Support technical project delivery, provide technical expertise and guidance, guide key technical decisions, and make recommendations to our clients on complex and innovative transportation projects
- Outreach/communicate Iteris consultant services capabilities through direct client engagement, conference presentations, professional society/organization/chapter involvement and interaction
- Manage, mentor, and provide leadership to senior business development, project management, and professional staff to support their growth and development
- Participate in professional organizations at various levels (local, state, and/or national) and remain current in the latest technical innovations and non‑technical (laws, codes, regulatory compliance) developments in traffic and transportation techniques and practices
- Local and Statewide travel as required – Develop and serve a client base providing superior traffic and transportation engineering and planning services – Conduct business development activities including pre‑marketing, proposal preparation, interview, and contract negotiations
- Cultivate strategic thinking to grow business and increase client retention rates
- Periodically participate in coordination meetings and consult with other staff and division leaders
- Define client needs and develop a plan and proposal to address business capture and regional growth
- Bachelor's Degree (four‑year college or technical school) required, field of study:
Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Electrical Engineering, or related field - Professional Engineer (PE) or Traffic Engineer (TE) licensure, Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification, International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) certification or certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) desired
- At least twenty (20) years as a demonstrated expert in transportation planning, engineering, or ITS industries
