Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking a well‑qualified Traffic or ITS Engineer to work remotely and support multiple offices across the Greater Midwest and Greater Southwest. This role will deliver high‑profile projects and shape local and regional communities.
Responsibilities- Support a team of professionals to deliver traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, traffic simulation, and conceptual planning/design.
- Prepare plan sheets, specifications, estimates, technical memoranda, reports, presentations, and other project documentation.
- Lead ITS or emerging‑technology projects following the systems engineering process.
- Serve in various roles on traffic/ITS projects and actively participate in the production of technical deliverables.
- Work with Early in Career staff and review technical work and project documentation.
- Deliver assigned tasks on schedule and budget while adhering to AECOM quality standards.
- Coordinate directly with other discipline groups within AECOM, as well as with external clients and sub‑consultants.
- Perform work in accordance with the agreed budget and schedule with minimal supervision.
- Independently execute all tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
- Collaborate with Business Development leaders to capture project opportunities.
- BA/BS and 6 years of relevant experience (equivalency of experience and/or education).
- Professional Engineering (PE) License or Professional Traffic Operations Engineering (PTOE) License.
- Preferred minimum 7 years of experience with emphasis in civil engineering fields such as traffic control design, traffic studies, ITS engineering, and traffic staging.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using traffic and traffic simulation software and design platforms.
- Ability to work as a member of a team or perform independent work as required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, command of the English language, time‑management skills, and a positive attitude toward work.
- This position does not offer sponsorship now or in the future.
Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $100,000 to $160,000.
