Mechanical Design Engineer (Vortex® – Solids & Bulk Handling Components)

Base pay range: $62,000.00/yr – $78,000.00/yr

Location & Employment: This is not a remote work-from-home opportunity; you must be located within 30 minutes of Salina, KS. Vortex does not sponsor employment visas; work visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Being authorized to work in the United States is a precondition of employment.

Apply engineering principles to evaluate designs and determine critical components. Perform necessary design engineering calculations to meet product specifications and ensure proper product function and reliability.

• Review valve, accessories, and application to ensure compatibility
• Determine best course of action to complete orders
• Prioritize workload to ensure timely delivery of parts and information, utilizing other personnel to complete tasks efficiently
• Understand standard drafting practices
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and ability to apply them to the structure of bills of materials
• Communicate effectively orally and in writing, including interaction with the sales and manufacturing departments and development of technical documents (instruction manuals, technical bulletins, etc.)
• Provide assistance in the form of troubleshoots via communication and onsite visits
• Possess ability to manage multiple product lines from a technical perspective

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent. Five years experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Solid Works, and basic electrical knowledge. Good verbal communication skills, problem‑solving ability, interpersonal skills, and the ability to complete tasks with limited supervision.

This position is a full‑time, non‑remote role at 40 hours per week.
