Principal Pipeline Engineer (Energy) – WSP, UK & Ireland
Responsibilities- Work with project teams to develop cost‑effective, efficient and innovative solutions for complex problems, creating practical designs.
- Engage in projects at various stages – feasibility studies, Concept Designs, FEED Studies, Value Engineering and Detailed Design, with opportunities for site work during development, construction and commissioning.
- Prepare pipeline deliverables and above‑ground installations, including wall thickness calculations and piping specifications.
- Undertake pipeline routing and population studies and high‑pressure pipeline diversions.
- Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines during design development.
- Support the development of layouts and 3D models.
- Develop proposals and bids for the piping and layout discipline, contributing to multi‑disciplinary proposals.
- A Degree in a relevant Engineering subject.
- Chartered Engineer or working towards IEng/Ceng and a member of a relevant Engineering Institute.
- Understanding of IGEM/TD/1 and TD/13, and gas network operators addendum’s.
- The ability and desire to assume a lead role in the development of pipeline and AGI engineering deliverables.
- Knowledge of national and international codes and standards for design and manufacturing of plant equipment and piping.
- Experience of carrying out pipeline and AGI design.
- Experience in a multi‑discipline team on plant 3D models.
- Proven understanding of the design process, ability to demonstrate working knowledge of brief/scope documents, design concepts and producing calculations.
- Experience of operational and integrity issue troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Familiarity with Autodesk products – AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, Navisworks and BIM
360. - Proficiency in MS Office suite for technical reports, specifications, schedules and calculations.
- Experience working with clients and contractors to achieve technical solutions.
