Traffic / ITS Engineer – REMOTE at AECOM
We’re looking for a well‑qualified Traffic or ITS Engineer to work remotely supporting many offices across the Greater Midwest and Greater Southwest. This role is highly rewarding and impactful locally and across the region.

Responsibilities- Support a team of professionals to deliver traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, traffic simulation, and conceptual planning/design.
- Plan sheets, specifications & estimates, technical memoranda, reports, presentations and other project documentation.
- Lead ITS or emerging technology projects following the systems engineering process.
- Serve in various roles on traffic/ITS projects.
- Actively participate in the team’s production of technical deliverables ranging from plans, specifications, estimates, reports, memorandums, etc.
- Work with Early in Career staff and help review technical work and project documentation.
- Deliver assigned tasks on schedule and budget while adhering to AECOM quality standards.
- Coordinate directly with other discipline groups within AECOM and with external clients and sub‑consultants.
- Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervision.
- Independently perform all tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering works.
- Coordinate with Business Development leaders to capture project opportunities.
- BA/BS and 6 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
- Professional Engineering (PE) License or Professional Traffic Operations Engineering (PTOE) License.
- Preferred minimum 7 years of experience with an emphasis in civil engineering fields such as traffic control design, traffic studies, ITS engineering, and traffic staging within Agency and DOT standards and projects.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using traffic simulation software and design platforms.
- Ability to work as a member of a team or perform independent work as required.
- Good interpersonal skills, strong command of the English language both verbally and written, good time management and a positive attitude toward work.
