Job DescriptionWe seek a Traffic or ITS Engineer to work remotely supporting projects across the Greater Midwest and Greater Southwest. This role delivers impactful local and regional work and offers a dynamic team that wins high‑profile projects.
Responsibilities- Support a team to deliver traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, simulation, and conceptual planning/design.
- Prepare plans, specifications, estimates, technical memoranda, reports, and presentations.
- Lead ITS or emerging technology projects following the systems engineering process.
- Serve in various roles on traffic/ITS projects and produce technical deliverables.
- Review Early‑Career staff technical work and project documentation.
- Deliver tasks on schedule and budget while adhering to AECOM quality standards.
- Coordinate with other disciplines, external clients, and sub‑consultants.
- Perform work in accordance with agreed budget and schedule with minimal supervision.
- Independently complete primary design elements for engineering works.
- Coordinate with Business Development leaders to capture project opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
- BA/BS and 6 years of relevant experience (equivalency of experience and/or education).
- Professional Engineering (PE) License or Professional Traffic Operations Engineering (PTOE) License.
- 7 years of experience emphasizing civil engineering fields such as traffic control design, traffic studies, ITS engineering, traffic staging within Agency and DOT standards and projects.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using traffic simulation software and design platforms.
- Ability to work as a member of a team or perform independent work as required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, command of English, time‑management skills, and a positive attitude toward work.
