Field Service Engineer – ABB
We are looking for a skilled Field Service Engineer to join our Electrification Service Division in Neenah, WI. The role is remote and will support our global customer base.
Your Role and Responsibilities- Communicate with internal and external customers via phone/email to schedule upcoming jobs, order required materials, and perform safety analysis and paperwork prior to starting work.
- Conduct work activities in compliance with ABB HSE (Health, Safety and Environment), ABB Way, and Safety Manual & Safety policy at all times.
- Execute hands‑on projects including startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, engineering, design, and repair of Power Delivery equipment (transformers, switch gear, OCBs, circuit breakers, busways, UPS, ATS, PLCs, relays, and power management control systems).
- Participate in outages with other field engineers, technicians, and contractors, including project management and lead site engineering duties.
- Perform administrative functions such as writing technical reports, ordering materials, securing quotations, preparing job status reports, and maintaining time sheets and expense sheets in a timely and thorough manner.

Qualifications for the Role- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or Engineering Technology) or High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 2 additional years of related engineering / field experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of field engineering experience or equivalent military service.
- Experience handling/moving circuit breakers and other installed equipment in excess of several hundred pounds.
- Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 75% as required; valid passport and driver’s license.
- Knowledge of industrial customer base in the geographical area preferred.
- Technical skills in testing of power distribution and delivery, including low voltage and medium voltage breakers, switch gear, relays, and transformers.
- Experience in the repair and refurbishment of LV and MV circuit breakers (OEM equipment such as Siemens, GE, ABB, Square D, Multilin relays, and Switzer Relays).
- Technical skills in testing, commissioning, startup, and troubleshooting of medium voltage synchronous machines (including excitation systems), control systems, and programmable logic controllers.
- Candidates must already have work authorization that permits them to work for ABB in the US.
