Controls System Engineer - Motion Solutions (Remote)

Position Summary
Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager – Motion Solutions, the Controls Engineer will be responsible for design oversight and direction of hardware and systems associated with Motion Solutions system projects. The position requires a strong working knowledge of system design—including hydraulic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical hardware—and a thorough understanding of customer requirements. The candidate must manage a workload and assigned tasks, provide moderate support across all project phases, oversee other engineers and designers, and interface daily with system engineers, designers, fabrication personnel, salespersons, and customers.
Responsibilities
- Manage the flow of all assigned projects through quote, design, build, and test phases.
- Provide engineering review (documents, BOMs, etc.) and support for projects as needed.
- Coordinate and support project management of larger projects.
- Serve as the customer liaison for projects assigned by the Engineering Manager.
- Teach and share project knowledge with other engineers and technicians.
- Interpret customer and salesperson supplied information to create scope of expectations and work definitions.
- Ensure diligent questioning to arrive at a profitable engineered solution for the customer.
- Generate designs and supporting documentation that meet and exceed project scope.
- Interface directly with customers to support design and achieve satisfaction.
- Utilize AutoCAD Electrical and Inventor for design and documentation.
- Use Vault to maintain proper structure for each design and project.
- Create, source, and consolidate all documentation needed for the project (submittals).
Basic Requirements
- Understanding of electrical components and their principles of operation.
- Experience with UL508A and UL698A panel electrical schematic and panel layout design.
- Excellent written and oral communication and strong relationship‑building skills.
- Detail‑oriented, organized, and capable of prioritizing and multi‑tasking in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); willingness to learn new software (P21 a plus).
- Strong AutoCAD Electrical and PLC/HMI programming abilities.
- 4‑year degree or equivalent work experience with solid business acumen; completion of required company training courses.
- Development of working knowledge of the industries served.
- Effective communication and collaboration with customers, vendors, and company staff.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as RFQs, purchase orders, vendor quotations, drawings, catalog data, operating instructions, and process manuals.
- Leadership with emotional intelligence, active listening, and a collaborative work environment.
- Demonstrated ability to attract, develop, and align top talent.
- Must be over 21 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, and have an acceptable driving record.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Occasionally lift up to 35 pounds, bend, pull, push, slide heavy objects, and stand for long periods while performing tasks such as cutting, crimping, and hose testing.
- Use hydraulic crimping equipment, saws, pressure testing stands, small power tools, and other hand tools; exposure to odors from hose production.
- Work in a non‑air‑cooled area that may experience high or low temperatures.

Salary
$95k – $105k per year, depending on experience.
