Job Description

AECOM is seeking a well‑qualified Traffic or ITS Engineer to work remotely supporting many different offices across the Greater Midwest and Greater Southwest. The role is highly rewarding and impactful locally and regionally.

Applicants should support remote operations and growth in Wisconsin, Montana, Wyoming, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Utah, Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Indiana, Ohio, New Mexico, Idaho.

Responsibilities
  • Support a team of professionals to deliver traffic analysis, forecasting, safety studies, traffic simulation, and conceptual planning/design.
  • Produce plan sheets, specifications & estimates, technical memoranda, reports, presentations and other project documentation.
  • Lead ITS or emerging technology projects following the systems engineering process.
  • Participate in various roles on traffic/ITS projects and assist in production of technical deliverables.
  • Work with Early in Career staff and review technical work and documentation.
  • Deliver assigned tasks on schedule and budget, while adhering to AECOM quality standards.
  • Coordinate with other discipline groups within AECOM and with external clients and sub‑consultants.
  • Perform work independently with little supervision, completing primary design elements.
  • Coordinate with Business Development leaders to capture project opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BA/BS and 6 years of relevant experience or equivalency in education and experience.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) License or Professional Traffic Operations Engineering (PTOE) License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 7 years of experience emphasizing traffic control design, traffic studies, ITS engineering, traffic staging within Agency and DOT standards.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience using traffic and traffic simulation software and design platforms.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or independently as required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, command of English, time management, and a positive attitude.
