Senior Energy Engineer/ Project Developer
Senior Energy Engineer/ Project Developer — This position can be remote, Upstate NY. Our client is a leading provider of Mechanical Design/ Build and ENERGY solutions in the up-state NY region. They are one of the top companies in the area. We are seeking a Senior Energy Engineer/ Project Developer to join our client’s company in NY.
OverviewThis professional will be responsible for identifying project opportunities by conducting feasibility assessments in one or more market verticals (MUSH Market). They will also perform preliminary and detailed facility audits to identify and develop improvement measure project opportunities.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and lead facility site visits with client representative and communicate with outside vendors as it pertains to FIM development
- Lead technical aspects of preliminary and final performance contracting proposal development, including energy benchmarks, proposed project descriptions, utility cost savings and preliminary cost estimates
- Determine existing facility AMEP system design and control concepts and operating characteristics with client technical representative
- Determine original systems design concepts and control strategies; compare with existing system operating characteristics
- Benchmark facilities utility use and costs compared to applicable standards (CBECS, etc.)
- Reconcile utility use of applicable AMEP systems by applying operating characteristics or using energy simulation software
- Compare existing building system operating efficiencies to current energy efficiency/code standards and industry best practices. Determine and rank potential opportunities to renovate systems to improve system efficiencies and reduce operating costs
- Determine potential savings and overall project opportunity
- Calculate energy and cost savings calculations using existing templates or create new calculations using applicable software tools
- Create detailed project scopes of work. Coordinate project scope contact with Operations in order to meet bidding requirements
- Determine savings interaction from proposed FIMS and expected rate changes
- Coordinate project development opportunities with Operations representative
- Work in a team environment that includes managers, sales, estimating, design / CAD, construction & service personnel to drive business
- BSME or EE or in related discipline is highly desirable and advanced degree is a plus with equivalent work and field experience. Experience with Performance contracting / ESPC industry preferred
- Min. 5+ years of experience in energy service / ESPC / ESCO or HVAC design experience required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, Adobe, E-Quest, DOE-II, AutoCAD, RIVET, TRANE Trace, or Carrier
- Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
- Strong ability to compile, synthesize and explain technical information
- Knowledge in heating and cooling load calculations, commercial ventilation and air infiltration, data measurement/metering collection analysis
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create results driven, team oriented environment
