PositionSummary
The Field Landman will play a critical role in supporting oil and gas development activities across Southeast New Mexico. This position requires a hands‑on professional who is comfortable working in the field, engaging directly with landowners, regulators, and construction teams, and independently managing land-related activities from planning through execution.
· The ideal candidate brings strong regional experience, practical regulatory knowledge, and the ability to navigate complex land and access challenges while maintaining positive stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct field-based land work in support of drilling, infrastructure, and facility development projects.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for surface owners, ranchers, and other stakeholders, maintaining positive and professional relationships.
- Negotiate and prepare land-related agreements, including surface use, subsurface access, rights-of-way, temporary access, and water-related agreements.
- Coordinate and support survey and construction crews in the field to ensure accurate staking, access, and adherence to land agreements.
- Work closely with internal project, environmental, and construction teams to address land access issues and resolve field-level challenges.
- Interface with federal, state, and local agencies to support permitting, right-of-way applications, and compliance requirements.
- Manage land records, documentation, and reporting to ensure accuracy and regulatory alignment.
- Support environmental response activities, including landowner coordination related to spills, remediation, and site restoration.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and operational standards, promoting a strong safety culture in the field.
- Identify and resolve title or documentation issues that could impact project timelines.
- Proven experience working as a Field Landman within the oil and gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of surface and subsurface land practices, including ROW, curative work, and landowner relations.
- Demonstrated experience working with federal and state agencies, including BLM and state land offices.
- Familiarity with New Mexico land regulations, permitting processes, and county-level requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret maps, plats, construction drawings, and survey data.
- Experience coordinating field activities with survey, construction, and environmental teams.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills, particularly with rural landowners and agricultural stakeholders.
- High level of independence, organization, and accountability in a field-based environment.
- Commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and ethical land practices.
- Professional land certifications (e.g., RPL, CPL, IRWA) are considered an asset but not required.
