The Supervisor, Commissioning Engineer provides highly technical support to a global client base. The Supervisor, Commissioning Engineer primarily executes customer requests for installation, commissioning, repair and troubleshooting of rotating equipment.
Summary- Perform tasks for commissioning cryogenic pumps and related electrical and mechanical systems at customer sites for marine, hydrogen, and other industrial applications.
- Read and interpret drawings such as mechanical assemblies, control/power panels, schematics, and piping & instrumentation diagrams.
- Excellent technical knowledge and firsthand experiences with cryogenic pump products.
- Ability to read instructions in manuals, drawings, schematics, emails and precisely follow them.
- Communicate and elaborate field issues with technical staff in clear and concise manner.
- Be able to troubleshoot cryogenic pumps and related electrical and mechanical systems and components.
- Supervise a team of commissioning engineers or service engineers.
- Assign priorities and make project schedules and plans to direct reports.
- Test pressure devices, transmitters, switches, valves and other devices on arrival and final assembly installation.
- Perform and document functional tests of cryogenic pumps and mechanical and electrical equipment after final assembly.
- Program and troubleshoot control equipment such as temperature controllers, VFDs, power cables, feedthroughs, etc.
- Read assembly drawings, wiring schematics, and piping & instrumentation diagrams to confirm equipment functionality after it is built.
- Travel to sites to help install, commission, test, or troubleshoot equipment.
- Follow the direction of managers and project engineers.
- Verify that the specifications of the equipment built are correct.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions as needed.
- Report and/or make recommendations to engineering for improvements on products.
- Work with the shop and sometimes assist with components' assembly or wiring as needed.
- Work with customers to decide work scope, provide quotations, necessary parts and tool lists and other logistic considerations necessary to prepare for field service personnel’s work.
- Provide technical support to various internal teams.
- Maintain an at-home office for activities in between service calls, if not posted at ACD.
- Perform pre‑commissioning and commissioning activities.
- Perform repair and troubleshooting activities.
- Provide on‑site training to customers to improve the customers’ ability to effectively operate, troubleshoot, and maintain equipment.
- Complete Field Service/Field Trouble reports after providing site services.
- This position has direct supervisory responsibilities.
- Above average technical communication skills.
- Experience reading and interpreting electrical, mechanical and process prints and related technical documentation.
- Experience in mechanical and hydraulic calculations and data reductions
- Ability to discuss, diagnose and repair products.
- Ability to work at customer sites with little direct supervision.
- Ability to work safely and effectively within OSHA, and job local laws.
- Knowledge and experience with fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer.
