Substation Protection & Control Engineer (Remote)

ICF is seeking a Substation Protection & Control Engineer to design relay, protection, and control projects for high‑voltage substations ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV. The role focuses on delivering high‑quality engineering services from design through construction support.

Responsibilities
  • Design and prepare protection and control drawings, including protective schemes, substation relay one‑line and three‑line schematics, AC/DC schematics, substation panel layouts, substation wiring diagrams, cable schedules, SCADA and communication diagrams.
  • Perform DC and AC system calculations.
  • Develop equipment specifications and selections based on client criteria.
  • Create bills of materials based on design criteria.
  • Coordinate with drafting and settings disciplines to ensure quality deliverables.
  • Participate in client meetings and conduct site visits for data gathering as required.
  • Interpret and integrate vendor information into design deliverables.
  • Apply client standards to all work.
  • Provide field support during construction.
  • Enforce the company’s QA/QC processes on all design packages.
  • Continuously improve job‑related engineering knowledge, skills, and performance.
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. in Engineering (preferably electrical or computer engineering).
  • 5+ years of protection and controls experience.
  • 5+ years of experience working with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and Micro Station.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineering in Training license (EIT).
  • Professional Engineer license (PE).
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI standards.
  • Experience with design techniques, tools, and principles for producing technical plans, blueprints, and drawings.

Pay Range

$89,203.00 – $ (Full‑time, Nationwide Remote Office – US)
