Nuclear Structural Integrity Stress Engineer
Join us to apply for the Nuclear Structural Integrity Stress Engineer role at Frazer‑Nash Consultancy – a company delivering engineering services across the life cycle of nuclear programmes.
Salary: £50,000 to £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Location: Glasgow, Bristol, Burton on Trent, Gloucester, Leatherhead, Manchester, Plymouth (flexible hybrid working, with time split between the office and working from home).
Closing date: 25th January (may close earlier if sufficient applications).
ResponsibilitiesYou will conduct strength, fatigue (low‑cycle and high‑cycle), creep and defect tolerance assessments of safety‑critical parts using Finite‑Element Analysis (FEA). You will support clients in the design, operational troubleshooting, and life‑extension of nuclear assets. You will also deliver and lead projects across Frazer‑Nash's portfolio, engage with customers, and collaborate with the consultancy team.
Qualifications- A degree in engineering or equivalent.
- Technical knowledge in mechanical/structural engineering.
- Experience with FEA tools such as Abaqus, Ansys or LS‑Dyna.
- Experience with failure mechanisms: strength, fatigue (low‑cycle and high‑cycle), creep and fracture.
- Familiarity with codes and standards such as ASME III, ASME VIII, API
579, BS7608, BS7910, R5/R6. - Good interpersonal skills, ability to make structured decisions, solve problems, and take initiative.
- Capacity to work across the business with clients and support team members.
- Pre‑employment screening and UK National Security Vetting clearance.
