Traveling Construction Materials Technician II – Join Terracon’s traveling team to work on high‑profile projects across the Rocky Mountain division (Colorado, New Mexico, Montana, Nevada, Arizona, Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon, Washington).
This role requires 100% travel between project sites. You will perform field testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials such as soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. You will communicate with project managers, engineers, client representatives, and contractors. Material samples will be transported to the laboratory, and you will prepare and submit written and digital reports for daily transmittal. You will also maintain equipment and vehicles, assist with technician scheduling, and adhere to strict safety standards.
EssentialRoles and Responsibilities
- Perform testing, observation, and inspection as directed according to training and procedures.
- Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
- Verify accuracy of data before communicating or submitting to the Project Manager.
- Communicate information to the Project Manager and other personnel.
- Assist higher‑level technicians on complex tasks.
- Maintain assigned equipment and related calibration.
- Drive a vehicle such as a Ford F‑150 or equivalent.
- Follow safety rules and practices; conduct pre‑task planning and report any safety issues.
- Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience or equivalent training and experience.
- Experience with a laptop and Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- ACI certification in one or more of the following areas:
- Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I
- Concrete Strength Testing Technician
- Certified in radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation.
- Successful completion of related internal safety certifications.
- Certifications in one or more of the following areas:
- NICET Level II in Construction Materials Testing (Asphalt, Concrete, Soils).
- NICET Level II in Geotechnical (Construction, Laboratory, Exploration, Generalist).
- ICC certifications in Reinforced Concrete, Spray‑applied Fireproofing, Structural Masonry, Prestressed/Post‑Tensioned Concrete, Structural Steel – Bolting, Structural Steel – Welding.
- AWS Certified Associate Welding Inspector (CAWI).
- ASNT Level II in Visual Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Dye Penetrant Testing, Radiographic Testing, Ultrasonic Testing.
- Other national, regional, state, or local materials‑related certifications that require experience and written examination (considered at manager’s discretion).

This position is Remote Only; employees do not have a designated office workspace and typically work from home.
The national standard salary range for this position is $19.00–$29.25 per hour. The final compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
