About the role

The Principal, Design Delivery role serves as both a specialized Design project manager and a subject matter expert (SME) across civil, structural, and architectural disciplines for Amp Z’s hyperscale data center portfolio. This role leads end-to-end design delivery for gigawatt+ scale campuses, integrating site and building design, permitting, and code compliance while driving quality, risk management, and cross-discipline coordination with power and mechanical systems.

This role requires an anticipated 20% travel. This position is located in Denver, CO although we will consider remote work arrangements for exceptional candidates.

What you'll do Integrated Design Management
  • Own scope and risk for civil/structural/architectural (CSA) design packages across campus programs; drive phase gate readiness and change control.
  • Lead multi-firm A/E teams; align deliverables to campus roadmaps, commercial objectives, and design sequencing.
  • Develop and manage design execution plans, submittal logs, and decision registers; facilitate design reviews and value engineering.
  • Coordinate closely with power, electrical, mechanical, controls, and construction partners to ensure integrated solutions and constructability.
  • Oversee the full design lifecycle and establish an End-to-End program from site selection through commissioning, ensuring consistency, quality and delivery of the Amp Z Product.
Discipline Leadership & SME
  • Provide general guidance across site/civil (grading, drainage, utilities, roads), structural systems (steel, concrete, foundations, seismic), and architectural scope (core/shell, envelope, egress, life safety).
  • Review and approve drawings/specifications; set technical direction, performance criteria, and acceptance tests for CSA systems.
  • Establish and maintain CSA design standards, campus prototypes, and BIM requirements; drive QA/QC and lessons‑learned across programs.
  • Manage design vendor performance against contracts, KPIs, and service levels; resolve issues, escalations, and interfaces with utilities and third parties.
  • Represent Amp Z with AHJs, community stakeholders, customers, and partners; provide executive-ready updates on milestones, risks, and mitigations.
Construction & Operations Interface
  • Partner with construction to drive constructability, RFI/submittal resolution, and field change management; support commissioning and turnover for CSA scope.
  • Collaborate with Operations on maintainability, reliability, and lifecycle strategies for campus assets.
  • Additional tasks/projects as requested from time to time.
Qualifications
  • 7-10+ years of experience in civil, structural, or architectural design for mission‑critical, large industrial, or hyperscale campus projects.
  • Proven success managing complex, multi‑site design programs as an owner’s representative or A/E lead.
  • Expertise in site development, grading/drainage, utilities, roadway design; structural systems (steel, concrete, foundations, seismic); and architectural core/shell, envelope, egress, and life safety.
  • Fluency with building codes and permitting processes; experience engaging AHJs and utilities.
  • Proficiency with design tools and workflows (e.g., BIM/Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam) and specification management.
  • Strong commercial…
