About the role, Your ImpactBaxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a Water/Wastewater Senior Project Manager in our Houston or Katy, Texas office.
This position oversees the work of others and assigns work to a team of employees within the Water/Wastewater Department. This includes management of both small projects and large complex projects involving special skills and multi-disciplinary teams. Must develop strong relationships with clients and perform the role of client manager. Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and impact company's performance and activity.
Supervises and coordinates the activities within the department in support of corporate policies, goals, and objectives. Represents the company in the industry and sets an example for staff.
- Prepare and/or monitor project scopes, budgets, schedules to ensure an economical timely delivery of projects.
- Manage multiple projects in the development of plans, specifications, and technical reports for water, wastewater, and other municipal type projects. Manage feasibility studies, preliminary engineering reports, and other evaluation reports.
- Represent the company in client and agency meetings to resolve questions and to plan and coordinate work.
- Make decisions independently and take responsibility for project management and project engineering solutions.
- Communicate and coordinate efforts and ideas with peers and management team.
- Ensure all technical aspects of the project, including the design, specifications, and reports, follow Baxter & Woodman quality objective as well as all agency criteria.
- Prepare engineering project proposals and statement of qualifications in coordination with the business development and marketing departments.
- Plan department efforts, workload, and budget.
- Direct staff efforts and development according to plans and personal skills; support in achieving goals.
- Build teams and assign staff to projects based on knowledge, skills, and availability.
- Monitor engineers' performance and evaluate staff regularly (client satisfaction, project schedule, project budget, billings, and QA/QC).
- Support employees and staff performance evaluations.
- Provide knowledge transfer and coaching to staff.
- An ABET accredited B.S. degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or applicable alternate engineering degree.
- Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Texas or can acquire registration through reciprocity.
- 5 or more years of related experience in project management and design.
- 10 or more years of proven progressive experience in consultant civil engineering.
- Broad knowledge of principles of engineering as well as advanced engineering expertise.
- Experience in the design of water and wastewater projects including water plants and wastewater treatment plants.
- Experience with municipal utility district and/or experience with other local municipalities.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from other managers, clients, and the general public.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to travel throughout assigned office service areas (own transportation).
- Excellent technical writing skills.
- Strong verbal, computer, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
The pay range for this role is $130,000-$165,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
