Aero Design Engineer - MRB (A&D Industry)

Responsibilities- Review and disposition Non‑Conforming Material (parts), Deviation Requests, and Waivers from OEM and supply base, including reviews supporting Aftermarket MRO. Assess fit, form, function, interchangeability, health, safety, intended use, weight, appearance and classification (major vs minor) based on provided technical information.
- Interact technically with Design Authority as needed.
- Determine/review part repair requirements or usage parameters.
- Obtain and hold “Certified MRE” (Material Review Engineer) status and complete Quest Global MRE re‑certification training.
- Conduct other typical design and design support engineering activities.
- Support business growth through daily work and interactions.
- BSAE / BSME (required)
- Component‑level aero/marine/industrial power gas turbine design experience with material and engineering principles (fit, form, function).
- Ability to read/interpret drawings, including GD&T.
- Experience reviewing engineering assessments, tolerance stacks, engineering change/deviations, repairs.
- Application of quality requirements, assessment of hardware, and interpretation of inspection data.
- Presentation of technical data/results to customers and regulatory representatives (FAA; DCAA).
- Knowledge of modern high‑tech manufacturing processes (metal, composites) and associated support equipment, gaging, and handling.
- Interaction with MRP systems (Oracle/SAP/CAPP/Solumina).
- 7+ years (minimum for Partial Engine Cert) / 15+ years (minimum for Full Engine Cert) of gas turbine engine (Aero‑preferred – Marine/Industrial) component level design experience.
- MRB and/or Non‑Conformance evaluation experience.
- Engineering signatory responsibilities.
- Quality engineering experience and related certifications.
- Service provider mindset.
- Self‑motivated, disciplined, and organized.
- Integrity & ethics in all situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
$80,000 – $120,000 USD annually.
Location / Work Requirements1st shift, on‑site position located in Lansing, MI, with potential for local hybrid or full remote work. Must be able to commute using own transportation and meet required working hours. Shop floor environment may involve extensive walking and lifting up to 40 lbs.
