SR. SOURCING SPECIALIST, CONSTRUCTION (STARLINK)

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Create sourcing strategies to reduce risk, enable continuous cost reduction and align with company strategy on payment terms, cash targets, on time delivery and cost savings
  • Build genuine relationships both internally and externally and drive cross‑functional teams to achieve consensus regarding the opportunities
  • Evaluate construction project delivery methods and identify which delivery method would be most appropriate per project
  • Evaluate and organize construction proposals using Master format divisions
  • Evaluate contractor EMR ratings and identify potential risks
  • Develop should‑cost models for MEP related equipment such as chillers, HVAC systems, electrical panels, wiring, pipes, and plumbing fixtures etc.
  • Responsible for identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers for construction materials, equipment, and services.
  • Responsible to maintain and develop a healthy contractor pool of various types and anticipate upcoming demand for construction projects
  • Able to negotiate favorable terms, including price, delivery schedules, and quality standards, ensuring that suppliers meet the project’s requirements and deadlines
  • Oversee the supply chain to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to the construction site. Anticipate potential shortages, and coordinate with project managers and suppliers to avoid delays and ensure that the project progresses smoothly
  • Create, develop and oversee the Request For Proposal (RFP) process from start to finish. Able to evaluate construction bids and identify opportunities to negotiate and/or identify potential risks of bid
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Advanced degree or bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of experience working in one or more of the following, or 6+ years of experience working in one or more of the following:
    • Engineering
    • Purchasing
    • Contract negotiation
    • Material or production planning
    • Operations or supply chain management
    • Material cost control
    • Master production scheduling
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Master’s degree in supply chain or an engineering discipline
  • 6+ years of experience in one of the following:
    • Engineering
    • Purchasing
    • Contract negotiation
    • Material or production planning
    • Operations or supply chain management
    • Material cost control
    • Master production scheduling
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to mine data from our in‑house ERP using Excel, SQL and Power BI to enable decision making
  • Experience in managing high‑spend portfolios (i.e. $10M+)
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational skills, and independent problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to prioritize appropriately to meet internal customer and company needs
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills, with strong ability to communicate to all levels of internal personnel
  • Ability to distill and draw conclusions from large data sets
  • Detail‑oriented, self‑motivated and able to respond quickly to a fast‑moving and ever‑changing environment, demonstrates strong bias for action
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends when needed to meet critical deadlines
  • Ability to travel and communicate outside of work hours
  • Ability to travel: up to 20% - 50% of work week
  • Must be able to work onsite, remote work not considered
