Overview
Structural Bridge Engineer - PE role s position is part of the Ohio transportation team and can be based in Columbus, OH;
Cleveland, OH; or Cincinnati, OH.

What you’ll do- Serve in key technical roles on bridge design projects and perform design for all structural aspects of transportation projects on local, state, regional and national projects.
- Grow personally and professionally within a diverse multi-discipline team delivering transportation planning, design, and highway design projects.
- Lead tasks and/or projects to address clients’ most significant and challenging problems, with support from Jacobs’ local and national resources.
- Operate within an inclusive culture that embraces diverse perspectives and aims to create a culture of belonging.
- Lead and contribute to bridge design activities using industry-standard software and practices.
- Engage in DOT project work and apply solid understanding of DOT procedures and standards.
- Utilize bridge design software (e.g., LEAP Concrete/Bridge, AASHTOWare BrR, Larsa 4D, MIDAS Civil, MDX) and CADD tools (Micro Station, InRoads, Geopak, Open Roads Designer, Open Bridge Designer).
- Prepare technical reports and communicate findings clearly.
- Demonstrate professional design experience with a focus on DOT projects;
Ontario/Ohio state licensing flexibility as noted in requirements.
- Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 7 years’ professional bridge engineering experience, with demonstrated design experience on bridges, especially DOT projects.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in Ohio or PE elsewhere with ability to obtain Ohio license within 6 months of employment.
- Solid understanding of DOT practice, procedures, and standards; solid understanding of standard engineering practices, techniques, and applicable codes.
- Proficiency in bridge design software and CADD software listed above.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills; ability to analyze structural problems using design and calculation tools.
- Ideally, also have a Master’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Existing Ohio DOT and/or local government relationships.
- Active professional involvement in local engineering societies.
- Task Lead/Bridge Lead experience;
Design-Build project experience.
