Utility Analyst / Senior Utility Analyst

The City of Tallahassee – Electric & Gas Utility is seeking two forward‑thinking Utility Analysts to join our Integrated System Planning team. These roles are ideal for candidates passionate about clean energy, data analytics, and the future of electric utility operations.

The Utility Analysts will help advance the City’s transition toward a smarter, more sustainable, and more customer‑centric electric grid. Using utility analytics, smart meter data, and machine‑learning tools, you will support efforts to defer unnecessary system investments, improve grid reliability, enhance customer programs, and unlock actionable insights for internal teams and the community.

You will contribute to a wide variety of technical studies, research initiatives, and innovative grid‑edge projects, collaborating with engineering, operations, customer programs, IT, academia, and community stakeholders. This position plays a key role in shaping and implementing the City’s clean energy strategy and ensuring a modern, resilient, and cost‑effective electric distribution system for all customers.

Applications are being sought for candidates at intermediate to senior levels, with a preference for candidates with experience in the electric utility industry, customer energy programs, consulting, research, data analytics, or long‑range planning for energy utility services. The minimum requirements are outlined below.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Both positions provide data analytic and program management support for the utility’s Integrated System Planning team focused on enhancing demand‑side energy programs, modernizing and expanding grid infrastructure, and embracing the transition towards clean energy. Based on the level of experience, responsibilities for the position may include serving as project manager and lead, including potential supervisory responsibilities, at the Senior Utility Analyst level.
