Geosyntec offers an exciting opportunity for a Designer (AutoCAD Civil 3D) in our Kennesaw, GA, Atlanta, GA, Birmingham, AL, Blue Bell, PA, Richmond, VA, Tampa, FL, Charlotte, NC, or Nashville, TN offices. The role involves computer‑aided design and drafting for civil and geotechnical engineering projects, including landfills, industrial sites and utilities, mechanical drawing systems, and opportunities from conceptual design through construction.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Draft, edit, and finalize design plans and details using efficient methods and adhering to Geosyntec drafting standards.
  • Interpret overall civil/geotechnical concepts and translate them into design drawings.
  • Analyze sketches, notes and other input material to determine the best approach to complete a drawing set.
  • Manage the production of drawing sets from creation, markup and modification.
  • Assign work to, mentor, train, and supervise CADD technicians and review completed work products for quality.
  • Assist with CADD department management tasks such as estimating level of effort and developing file management standards.
  • Participate in the CAD Action Group to improve CAD standards and efficiencies across the company.
  • Collaborate with other CADD practitioners to prepare and review design drawings.
  • Drive personal/company vehicles to client or project sites as needed.
Skills, Experience And Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree in Drafting and a minimum of five (5) years related experience in a professional civil engineering setting, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Successful Autodesk AutoCAD Certified Professional examination within the last 3 years (preferred).
  • Experience developing grading plans, cross‑sections, alignments, profiles, 3‑D surfaces and earthwork volumes for large civil design projects.
  • Experience with land or aerial surveying/mapping data and files.
  • Experience with stormwater management design (preferred).
  • Proficiency with the latest releases of Microsoft Office, Skype, Adobe PDF and Windows File Explorer.
  • Experience with ArcGIS and Micro Station (preferred).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and AutoCAD Map³; strong understanding of Civil 3D annotation, surfaces, alignments, profiles, pipe networks, surface analyses and volume calculations.
  • Understanding of feature lines, grading groups, assemblies, and corridors.
  • Interoperability knowledge of ESRI Arc Map or equivalent GIS software (preferred).
  • Applied math fundamentals such as geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to engineering design.
  • Read, analyze and interpret red‑line drawings from engineers and CAD managers.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present information to project teams and clients.
  • Ability to supervise and communicate with subordinate staff.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license with satisfactory driving record (required).
  • Valid U.S. work authorization; no H‑1B lottery or green‑card sponsorship (required).
