Our Nuclear Programs is a Tier 1 service provider to the U.S. Department of Energy and commercial nuclear companies, delivering safe and innovative solutions at complex nuclear cleanup, production and power generation sites. Services include engineering, construction management, consulting, program management, decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste and nuclear material management, and nuclear operations.
We are looking to add a Structural Engineer - Seismic Specialist to our growing engineering team out of our office in Oak Ridge, TN. As a Structural Engineer, you will oversee contractor’s daily work activity for concrete, steel, and foundations on site for the Department of Energy project, perform structural design calculations and evaluations, and work client‑facing with an emphasis on quality, schedule, and cost.
You will participate in planning, field oversight, inspections, scheduling, general design, design change disposition, and procurement tasks as assigned. Your role will tackle the toughest design challenges with a smile, supporting life‑changing infrastructure across the United States.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in structural and seismic analysis for commercial, industrial, and nuclear facilities
- Apply advanced techniques including Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI), seismic code interpretation, and specialized structural design tools
- Contribute to a diverse range of projects—from commercial buildings to nuclear material facilities and Small Modular Reactor (SMR) designs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, resilient, and innovative engineering solutions
- Deep technical knowledge in structural engineering and seismic analysis
- Experience with nuclear facility design is a strong plus

The base salary range for this position is $102,900 to $149,086. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all U.S. locations; for “remote” positions, salary to be offered is geographic dependent.
Qualifications:- Sole U.S. citizenship required (to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations)
- B.S. in Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school
- 15+ years of post‑education experience
- A PE or SE is required with ability to obtain a new state license as required
- Perform Engineer of Record duties as assigned
- Perform advanced linear analysis, non‑linear structural analysis, soil‑structure interaction analysis and generate requisite data such as floor response spectra; provide evidence of performing analysis for at least one project
- Be subject matter expert with steel, concrete, and masonry with emphasis on seismic design
- Experience implementing local and national code such as IBC, ASCE 7, AISC N690, ACI 349, ASCE 4, ASCE 43, DOE‑STD‑1020, NRC, etc.
- Follow and implement established NQA‑1 quality procedures and ensure that all work accomplished is procedurally compliant
- Expertise in use of finite element software such as STAAD.pro, SAP
2000, SASSI, or ANSYS - Perform validation and verification tasks for design software
