Michael Baker International, consistently ranked as a Top 20 transportation firm, is expanding its presence in the Inland Empire and Coachella Valley regions. Our 20+ person Inland Empire Transportation Team delivers large-scale transportation and local public works projects, offering expertise in planning, design, permitting, and construction management.
We are currently seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Highways team in the Inland Empire. This leadership role is ideal for a motivated professional with a strong background in transportation infrastructure, ready to manage complex roadway, highway, and freeway improvement projects across Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. The ideal candidate will be passionate about building strong client relationships and delivering high-quality work that exceeds expectations.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead the planning, design, and delivery of major highway and roadway projects.
- Manage client relationships and act as a trusted advisor to local agencies.
- Strategically position the team for upcoming project opportunities.
- Oversee project execution to ensure delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
- Guide and mentor a team of engineers and technical staff.
- Lead proposal development, contract negotiations, and project scope.
- Provide technical guidance and contribute to long‑term business development strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to drive project success.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
- 10–15 years of experience in transportation/public works projects.
- Active California Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Proven experience working with agencies in the Inland Empire and Coachella Valley.
- Strong relationships with local City, County, and State transportation agencies.
- Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and team development skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and proposal writing abilities.
- Entrepreneurial approach with a passion for growing a regional practice.
- Strong engineering judgment and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Flexible work environment – ability to work from home or office as needed
- Relocation assistance is available for this position.
The expected salary range for this position is $140,000-$204,000. This will depend on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate. This role is also eligible for a discretionary bonus based upon corporate and individual performance.
