Onsite Quality Engineer – Sweetwater, TN

Gemtron Corporation, located in Sweetwater, TN, is part of a growing multinational organization supplying components and systems to global appliance OEMs. With years of expertise and innovation, we serve the residential appliance industry (refrigeration, cooking, laundry), commercial refrigeration, HVAC, retail display, and home/office organizational markets.
We are currently seeking an Onsite Quality Engineer to join our team in Sweetwater, TN
. This role plays a key part in ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency across our production processes.
- Interpret product drawings and technical standards in order to develop and implement quality controls and product check methods.
- Responsible for product quality conditions.
- Responsible for accomplishment of External Quality goals and performance assuring coherence with the corresponding internal goals.
- Stops production if non-conform or suspicious products are about to be produced.
- Integrates the Team for New Projects and as a role of verification on the use of the good methodologies.
- Participates in Lean process development.
- Initiate “8-D’s” when required for customer or internal rejects and follow up with effective problem-solving efforts by creating teams to determine root cause, corrective action, and verification.
- Implement improvements on the manufacturing floor and work on internal quality issues.
- Provide training to operators.
- Work closely with manufacturing floor side activities.
- Utilize preventative quality techniques to improve product quality, reduce in-line defects, and reduce scrap.
- Lead Corrective Action activities and communicate to the customer or suppliers as required.
- Develop, review and maintain FMEA’s, Control Plans, and Quality Check Sheets.
Reports to Quality Manager.
Qualifications, Experience requirements- 3+ years of quality engineering experience is required. Automotive industry experience preferred.
- Experience as a Direct Customer Contact with Major OEM’s
- Able to communicate, verbally or written, to internal and external contacts.
- Ability to interpret product drawings (GD & T) and technical standards.
- Ability to make formal presentations.
- Good problem-solving skills utilizing corrective action disciplines.
- Good understanding of Microsoft software packages.
- Ability to work within and lead a team.
- Experience in a variety of basic operation disciplines:
Manufacturing, Quality, Process / Tooling, and Shop Floor Supervision.
