Position: Forensic Structural Engineer, P.E.

Overview

Haag, a Salas O’Brien Company and a leader in forensic engineering and consulting since 1924, is seeking an experienced Forensic Structural Engineer, ideally in the Cleveland, OH area. Working from your home office, you will investigate and evaluate the cause and extent of damage following storms, natural disasters, fires/explosions, construction/design defects, accidents, foundation movement, and more.

Responsibilities
  • Investigate and evaluate the cause and extent of damage after events such as storms, natural disasters, fires/explosions, construction/design defects, accidents, and foundation movement.
  • Travel locally, regionally, and nationally as needed by vehicle or by plane.
  • Work independently and with a cross-functional team of experts.
  • Prepare technical reports with strong writing skills; communicate effectively in face-to-face interactions.
  • Provide the utmost in customer service to clients.
  • Utilize technical proficiency with computers, phones, cameras, etc.
  • Prioritize and apply expertise as an Expert Witness where applicable.
  • Meet the physical requirements of the job, including working in confined spaces and on roofs.
Qualifications
  • You must be a licensed P.E. in OH or eligible by reciprocity.
  • 5-10 years of forensic engineering experience is preferred, 2 years of forensic experience required.
  • You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship or any restrictions.
Education
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university is required. A Master of Science Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering is desirable.
Equipment / Essential Functions
  • The ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally as needed by vehicle or by plane.
  • The ability to work independently and with a cross-functional team of experts.
  • Strong technical writing skills are required; the ability to write effective reports is critical. Strong verbal communication skills are necessary; you should be an effective communicator in face-to-face interactions.
  • The ability to provide the utmost in customer service to our clients is a must.
  • Technical proficiency with computers, phones, cameras, etc.
  • Established Expert Witness experience is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
  • The total compensation range for this position is $120,000 - $235,000 per year. The base salary range for this position is $120,000 to $180,000. The variable compensation range for this position is $0 to $55,000 per year but is not limited to that.
