Responsibilities
  • Conduct field observations of project sites during the pre‑, active‑ and post‑construction phases.
  • Perform construction administration and construction services.
  • Assist the engineering team in bid evaluation, plan distribution, pre‑construction meetings, shop drawing review, pay request review, change orders, punch lists, and other construction‑administration matters.
  • Work on all levels of production with an emphasis on field work and data reduction/delivery and drafting.
  • Perform calculations as related to assigned tasks.
  • Develop entry‑level knowledge of pertinent codes, specifications, and their applications.
  • Collect necessary topographic or survey‑related field data for infrastructure and building projects.
  • Perform entry‑level construction layout staking services and/or survey layout services.
  • Performs drafting assignments using MSA’s computer‑aided design software or manual skills to translate concepts into engineering drawings.

This role will primarily be in the field at the project site, with travel to other sites. Some overnight travel may be required.

The selected candidate must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future; we are unable to provide or take over sponsorship of an employment visa for this role.

Qualifications
  • Entry‑level knowledge in construction‑related services such as measuring bid items, plan reading, and field data collection and layout.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects within the same timeframe.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment as needed.
  • Entry‑level understanding of the technician practice, infrastructure, and the survey/design process.
  • Entry‑level understanding of Microsoft Office products.
  • Entry‑level understanding of relevant computer‑aided design software.
  • Accurate and timely completion of project work.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with the project team.
  • Interpersonal skills for facilitating relationships with colleagues.
  • Entry‑level knowledge of safety principles.

The wage for this position ranges from $21 to $34 per hour, commensurate with experience. Higher compensation within this range will be paid to candidates with significant experience and exceptional qualifications.
