DID YOU SAY POWER GENERATION & AUTOMATION?? Picture yourself as Johnny On The Spot. You are a detective on the move hunting power plant puzzles. You track clues in VFD logs and study relay trip histories to crack the case of the mysterious outage. You jet off to new destinations and partner with plant teams to pull off smart fixes on demand.

You leave every site running smoother than before. If poring over technical mysteries against the clock makes you smile and if passport stamps excite you more than souvenir keychains and if a suitcase and a multimeter are your favorite travel duo then pack your curiosity and sense of humor and let’s hit the road!

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and self-motivated Senior Field Service Engineer with a strong background in power generation, automation, and protective relaying systems. This position involves both domestic and offshore travel to support commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical and automation systems on marine vessels, industrial facilities, and power distribution systems.

The ideal candidate has extensive hands-on experience with switch gear, VFDs, PLCs, protective relays, and power generation equipment. Strong communication skills and a passion for solving complex technical challenges are key to success in this role.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform on-site commissioning, inspection, and troubleshooting power generation and distribution systems aboard marine vessels and industrial sites
• Interface with vessel and plant management systems, ensuring proper integration of VFDs, automation systems, and external vendor control equipment
• Conduct protective relay testing (electromechanical and microprocessor-based), including Schweitzer, GE Multilin, Basler, and Siemens relays
• Install, program, and support PLC and HMI systems (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Concept, RSView)
• Provide support for communication networks such as Modbus, Ethernet, and fiber optic systems
• Conduct equipment demonstrations and training for clients on generator systems, remote racking systems, and safety devices
• Interpret electrical schematics and perform high- and low-voltage testing, thermographic surveys, DGA, and trip unit testing
• Deliver technical documentation and reports in alignment with Coast Guard, ABS, and customer requirements
• Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to resolve complex system integration challenges
• Provide customer support for warranty and post-installation service

Qualifications
• Minimum of 10 years of hands-on field engineering experience, with exposure to marine or industrial power systems
• Strong background in protective relay testing, switch gear maintenance, and automation integration
• Proficiency in VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, and generator paralleling switch gear systems
• Experience with field testing equipment (megohmmeters, hi-pot testers, infrared cameras, etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals
• Strong analytical and diagnostic skills with a customer-focused mindset
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Willingness to travel extensively (domestic and international)
• Current Passport

Preferred
• Former military experience in power generation or electrical maintenance
• Two-Year degree in electrical engineering or similar field
• Technical certifications in protective relays, PLC programming, or power distribution equipment
• Experience working with classification societies and understanding of marine vessel regulations

Work Environment
• Field-based position with frequent travel to customer job sites
• Physically active role that may require working in various environmental conditions

Flexible work from home options available.
