Job Overview
Construction Inspector – Transportation Construction Inspector (TCI) at GFT, St Louis, MO (remote work schedule, primarily on‑site).
Employment Status:
Full‑time. Core Business
Hours:
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Perform inspections to ensure contractors build a quality construction project and comply with plans, specifications, standards and quality‑control plans. Cooperate with project teams, complete PSA’s and work sheets, assist in material and workmanship inspections, and participate in daily huddles with field staff.
Responsibilities- Perform inspection to assure that contractors build a quality construction project.
- Perform assigned duties to specific activities to assure plans, specifications, standards and Q.C. Plans are adhered to.
- Comply with the District and project specific overtime requirements.
- Meet with the Project Engineer/Manager/Supervisor or Consultant Manager/Supervisor daily, or as required, to receive instructions and assignments.
- Complete PSA’s and work sheets daily.
- Request assistance from Manager/Supervisor for any instruction or assignment in the inspection of materials and workmanship to ensure compliance with contract requirements and established standards.
- Participate in daily huddles with field staff.
- High school diploma.
- 4+ years progressive experience in transportation engineering and inspection of bridge and/or highway structures on state MODOT, municipal, and/or multimodal projects.
- A safety‑first mindset.
- Strong writing, listening and communication skills.
- ACI Field and/or Strength, Troxler or similar state MODOT certification are recommended.
- Ability to work collaboratively with peers, clients and contractors to solve problems and conflicts.
- Ability and desire to lead.
Hourly range $25.00 – $31.00 per hour, dependent upon experience and geographic location.
