Your day as a GEOINT Standards Developer - Imagery Standards - Senior Level
As a Senior GEOINT Standards Developer at Mission Intelligence Group, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of Imagery Standards across the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA), the National System for Geospatial-Intelligence (NSG), and the Acquisition Systems Group (ASG). Leveraging your Active TS / SCI clearance, you will provide specialized advice on complex technical projects, guiding the strategic growth of scientific imagery programs.
Your expertise will shine as you independently conduct system analysis, design, and engineering tasks, while also participating in national-level advisory groups and mentoring technical personnel.
In this role, you will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on the development of Still and Motion Imagery Standards, enhancing compliance and interoperability to meet programmatic and strategic requirements. You will evaluate and recommend new technologies and processes while ensuring that current and future GEOINT standards align with evolving capability demands.

Education / Certification Required :
- Master's degree plus 4 years experience, Bachelor's degree plus 6 years experience, Associates degree plus 8 years' experience, or a minimum of 8 years' experience, in relevant field
Desired Skills :
- Understanding of Imaging Process
Concepts of sensors & how they work
- Concepts of sensor collection parameters
- Understanding of Imaging Workflow
Concepts of how imagery data flows from collection platform to exploitation system to archive
- Concepts of what processing or metadata additions can occur at the various steps in workflow
- Understanding of GEOINT Standards core components
File formats
NITF is a byte-offset format so what are the pros / cons
- Be aware of other formats ISOBMFF, HDF5, TIFF / GEOTIFF, etc.
Understand abstract content models & organization from purpose perspective
Sensor info, platform info, coordinate reference systems, security info, discovery & retrieval info, etc.
- Understand various metadata encodings (e.g., NITE TRE / SDE, KLV, XML, JSON, binary, etc.) and their pros / cons
Understand various ways to represent 2-D pixel array data, band / pixel interleaving, etc.
- Understand various image compression techniques, pros / cons of each, typically where each is used & why
- Dissemination Protocols
Block FTP vs Streaming protocols
- Encapsulation in IP or other server / client protocols
- Clear & concise technical writing to unambiguously convey technical concepts & guidance
