- Interpret regulations, codes, and industry standards to ensure that designs meet established requirements and good engineering practices.
- Conduct business interactions with a positive attitude that projects professionalism.
- Collaborate with clients and other design disciplines to establish project basis of design, develop options, make recommendations, and optimize the design.
- Participate in planning, scheduling, and development of project execution.
- Work primarily in an office environment with occasional travel to project sites throughout all project phases.
- Lead piping engineering efforts for assigned projects, track budgets, and schedules.
- Develop and apply piping specifications in design.
- Experience with piping design, including valve/fitting/material selection, support specification, and detailing.
- Knowledge of ASME B31.3 and B31.1 piping codes.
- Experience in heavy industrial projects.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and 3D Design software; knowledge of CADWorx, Plant 3D, Navis Works is highly preferred.
- Ability to travel to client sites and take field dimensions.
- Read/draw isometrics, P&IDs, and orthographic drawings.
- Good communication and people skills.
- Participate in PHA’s / HAZOP’s as a process team representative.
- Work under the direction of Lead Piping Engineers, managing multiple projects as needed.
- Understand project scope and assigned duties, and identify potential scope changes.
- Coordinate with multi-discipline teams to optimize piping design within project constraints.
- Perform material and energy balances.
- Develop piping design criteria for all project stages.
- Develop process specifications for equipment selection and procurement.
- Interpret regulations, codes, and industry standards to ensure compliance.
- Maintain a professional attitude in all interactions.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in design engineering or related fields.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, 3D modeling, and piping design software.
- Experience with process piping systems in power generation, chemicals, or food & beverage industries.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
