The Impact You’ll Make in this RoleAs an Advanced Specialist Warehouse Automation Engineer, you will design, develop, and implement robotic systems to improve efficiency in 3M’s manufacturing sites and warehouses.
Responsibilities- Deploying automation solutions leveraging technologies such as robotic work cells, autonomous vehicles, ASRS systems, packaging automation, warehouse automation solutions, material handling systems and related software technologies.
- Integrate software that controls the robotic systems and integrate them with warehouse management systems (WMS) and Warehouse Execution Systems (WES).
- Analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and ensure systems are reliable, scalable, and safe.
- Evaluate existing manufacturing and warehouse operations and identify opportunities for improvement through automation.
- Sourcing/co-developing solutions with strategic vendors, doing R&D work to create innovative material handling automation solutions.
- Facilitate complex problem-solving skills, enhance collaboration across functional groups such as Project Managers, business leaders, operations, and stakeholders to define project scope.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (completed and verified prior to start)
- Seven (7) years of experience in application of warehouse automation/robotics in distribution/fulfillment centers and/or manufacturing/ production facilities in a private, public, government or military environment
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Prior hands-on experience with deployment of warehouse operations such as automated put away/reach trucks, case picking, trailer loading/unloading, labeling systems, pallet/case storage retrieval systems, mixed case palletizing, automatic stretch wrappers, and related technologies.
- Experience working with leading warehouse automation suppliers such as Dematic, Vanderlande, Swiss Log, Fortna, etc.
- Experience working with autonomous vehicles suppliers such as Dematic, Balyo, OTTO, Kuka, etc.
- Experience with Fanuc/Kuka industrial/collaborative robotic arms.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), Manufacturing enterprise systems (MES), fleet management, workflow integration.
- Working knowledge of machinery related compliance requirements and safety standards. Ex: OSHA, CE, ANSI, ISO, IEC.
This position has the possibility for remote work for candidates located more than 50 miles from 3M Global Headquarters in St. Paul, MN. Employees located within a commutable distance to 3M Global Headquarters must work on-site at least 4 days per week.

CompensationApplicable to US Applicants Only:
The expected compensation range for this position is $164,612 - $201,193, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience. In addition, this position may be eligible for a range of benefits (e.g., Medical, Dental & Vision, Health Savings Accounts, Health Care & Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts, Disability Benefits, Life Insurance, Voluntary Benefits, Paid Absences and Retirement Benefits, etc.).
