WSDOT is seeking a Transportation Engineer 2 to serve as an engineering assistant supporting the development and delivery of transportation projects. This position is responsible for preparing and processing agreements with local agencies and consultants; coordinating with project offices and regional partners; reviewing Plans for Approval (PFAs) and Plans, Specifications & Estimates (PS&Es) prepared by consultants; and assisting with the review of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements to ensure compliance across all WSDOT and Development Services projects.
Key Responsibilities- Support and facilitate the processing of consultant agreements.
- Work with project offices to ensure the scope and budget of the agreement matches the expected products.
- Prepare submittals for consultant signatures and process returned agreements for filing.
- Assist in the preparation of agreements and development of exhibits for other agencies and support groups with input from Olympic Region project offices.
- Assist in the coordination and review of nonstandard agreements.
- Review WSDOT project documents for Region Review and development services project documents for PFA, PS&E and other design documentation submittals.
- Review PS&E documents to ensure overall completeness, accuracy, and adherence to WSDOT policy and design criteria.
- Engineering Fundamentals:
Foundational knowledge of basic engineering and mathematical principles to solve routine engineering problems. - Engineering Knowledge (TE2 level):
Comprehensive knowledge and practical understanding of engineering principles, methods, and practices relevant to transportation projects. - Analytical and Technical Review:
Skills to examine, develop and propose alternate solutions to complex elements of a project and review engineering plans and specifications for compliance with established standards. - Technology Proficiency:
Proficient in operating Windows‑based computers and MS Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, and Word, as well as databases and computer‑aided engineering software. - Communication
Skills:
Effective and professional communication of technical information to a diverse audience. - Collaboration & Adaptability:
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritizing workload and handling multiple assignments. - Respectful Workplace, Growth Mindset, and Service‑Oriented:

- Program Proficiency:
Demonstrated knowledge in the use of InRoads and/or Open Roads for design projects; knowledge in the use of Micro Station for plan sheet development.
- Transportation Engineer 1: $64,776 – $87,048
- Transportation Engineer 2: $71,472 – $96,144
