Work Arrangement: Primarily On-Site (Limited Remote After 6 Months)
Position OverviewGeneral Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a CWL Advanced Systems Engineer to support the system engineering and functional design of Common Weapon Launcher (CWL) systems.
As part of a cross-functional engineering team, this role supports payload integration, weapon launch interlocks, weapon simulation, message exchanges, user interfaces, and cybersecurity. The successful candidate will ensure system requirements, specifications, and standards are complete, accurate, and delivered to support customer review, approval, development, and test activities.
Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering or a related STEM discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of job-related experience
- OR Master’s degree plus 3 years of job-related experience
- Agile development experience preferred
- Active Department of Defense Secret clearance required at time of hire
- Must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
- Perform system engineering and functional design for CWL systems
- Support payload integration and weapon launch interlock development
- Contribute to weapon simulation, message exchanges, and user interface design
- Support cybersecurity considerations within system architectures
- Ensure system requirements and technical specifications are complete, accurate, and compliant with applicable standards
- Deliver system documentation in support of customer reviews, approvals, development, and test
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline
- 5+ years of experience in an engineering role, preferably within the defense industry
- Experience with:
- Computer system architectures
- Cybersecurity principles
- Linux or embedded operating systems
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong understanding of systems engineering concepts, principles, theories, and technical standards
- Experience with requirements management and system modeling tools
- Ability to rapidly learn new information and manage increasing technical complexity
- Collaborative team contributor with a strong commitment to shared success
- Dedication to continuous professional development
- Primarily on-site at the Innovation Drive facility in Manassas, VA
- Potential for part-time remote work after 6 months
- Optional 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off
