Our Nuclear Programs is a Tier 1 service provider to the U.S. Department of Energy and commercial nuclear companies; we deliver safe and innovative solutions at complex nuclear cleanup, production, and power generation sites. Our services include engineering, construction management, consulting, program management, decommissioning, environmental remediation, waste and nuclear material management, and nuclear operations.

We’re looking for a Structural Engineer to be responsible for design projects, developing design calculations using standard and advanced analysis (FEA) techniques, creating drawings, and preparing specifications for structures made of steel, concrete, and masonry with an emphasis on seismic design. Your work will support the Oak Ridge, TN office with occasional travel.

• Sole US citizenship required
• B.S. in Structural/Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school
• 8+ years of post-education experience
• A PE or SE is required with ability to obtain a new state license as required
• Perform Engineer of Record duties as assigned
• Design experience with steel, concrete, and masonry with emphasis on seismic design
• Experience implementing local and national code such as IBC, AISC, ACI, ASCE 7
• Ability to follow and implement established quality procedures and ensure procedural compliance
• Experience working within a quality system based on ISO 9000 or NQA-1
• Ability to use finite element software such as STAAD.pro (or equivalent)
• Ability to lead a small team of engineers and designers
• Competent using Microsoft Office software
• Reside within a commutable distance from Oak Ridge, TN

• Experience using Revit, AutoCAD, or Micro Station software
• Experience delivering projects from conceptual design through detailed design, including calculations, modeling, drawing development, specification development, and construction support
• Knowledge of nuclear codes such as DOE 1020, AISC N690, and ACI 349
• DOE Q clearance
• DOE experience

It is preferred that this position be worked full‑time in Oak Ridge, TN. Remote/hybrid work is available: for individuals within 50 miles of Oak Ridge, TN or Denver, CO a hybrid option requires presence in the office a minimum of 2 days per week; others can work remotely with quarterly travel to Oak Ridge.

Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest carried distance 50 feet. Hand manipulation required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Occasional need to reach above or below shoulder. Must be alert to equipment in the field, will work near construction job site equipment, occasional exposure to dust, gas, fumes, noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.
